Surge in Counterfeit Beauty Products Challenges Consumers and Brands

[케이브릿지 미디어/Jay Son] Growing Concerns Over Rise in Counterfeit Beauty Products in Open Markets

In recent developments, APR, a prominent beauty brand, has issued an alert to consumers regarding the distribution of counterfeit Mediheal products on domestic and international open markets. This announcement follows a noticeable increase in consumer complaints about fake products, particularly those originating from China.

The tactics employed by counterfeit sellers typically involve setting up stores on open market platforms, where they replicate images and product descriptions from official Mediheal webpages. Unsuspecting customers, convinced of authenticity by these convincing forgeries, end up receiving counterfeit products after making a purchase.

The products currently identified as counterfeited include popular lines such as the PDRN Pink Peptide Ampoule, PDRN Collagen Capsule Cream, and more. These counterfeit items mimic the official Mediheal packaging and logo, making it challenging for consumers to discern between genuine products and imitations.

For instance, the counterfeit 'Collagen Night Wrapping Mask' is reportedly labeled incorrectly with errors such as "golagen" instead of "collagen," and has inconsistent measurements misprinted on packaging, such as "mi" instead of "ml." Additionally, legally required information like the cosmetics seller information is often listed with invalid addresses or incorrect spacing and fonts.

The primary concern with these counterfeit products is the unknown composition of ingredients. Without precise knowledge of what these impostors contain, consumers face potential adverse reactions, posing serious risks to skin health beyond mere financial loss.

To combat this issue, APR stresses the importance of purchasing from verified official retailers. Mediheal products are officially retailed through their own web store, Olive Young's official site, and flagship stores in various locations, alongside select authorized online platforms. Consumers are advised to be wary of purchasing from unofficial online stores to safeguard against counterfeit goods.

An APR spokesperson emphasized, "The manufacturing and distribution of counterfeit products not only infringe on our intellectual property rights but also undermine the trust in K-beauty and, more alarmingly, pose a threat to consumer health. We urge customers to ensure their purchases are made through official channels to prevent further harm."

As open markets continue to evolve, the challenge of counterfeit goods remains prevalent, demanding greater vigilance from both consumers and companies in the beauty industry.
